A Poland Village resident has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor nuisance charge after neighbors complained about the condition of a home he has been remodeling for more than four years.

Brett Barnhizer entered the plea before a judge in Struthers Municipal Court on Monday.

Village officials filed the charge after about 35 neighbors converged on a council meeting saying that the appearance of the unfinished home on Poland Manor is beginning to effect their property values.

The neighbors say that since Barnhizer began renovating a home in 2010, he's added a third floor, redone the roof and installed windows, but not much else.

Council officials said that Barnhizer is required to abate what they have declared as a nuisance,  He could be fined up to $150-dollars.

The Village is also considering citing him with a civil code violation, which could cost him $100 dollar per day until the issue is resolved.

No further court date has been set for Barnhizer.
