WARREN, Ohio -

At Warren's Women's Park, people were invited to celebrate Women's Equality Day on Tuesday.

The day is set aside to celebrate the passage of the 19th Amendment to the United States constitution in August of 1920.

Various speakers talked about the struggle that was waged by women during the Civil War to gain the right to vote.

The U.S. Army Battalion recruiting station in Cleveland sent it's all female Honor Guard to post colors.

"All we're doing is trying to bring attention to the fact that women have struggled and continue to struggle, maybe not for the right to vote anymore, but just for women's equality," said Terri Crabbs, Chairwoman of the Women's Equality Day Committee.

Warren Juniorettes passed out purple ribbons in honor of women's suffrage.

The League of Women Voters of Trumbull County was the major sponsor of the event.
