Poll shows Wolf maintaining lead in Pa. gov race

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A new poll shows Democrat Tom Wolf retains a wide lead over Pennsylvania's Republican Gov. Tom Corbett.

The statewide telephone survey released Thursday by Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster shows Wolf favored by 49 percent of registered voters, Corbett backed by 24 percent and 25 percent undecided.

That's about the same as the finding in a June poll by the same pollster.

The latest poll shows majorities believe it is important for the next governor to make major changes to the state pension and income-tax systems. Pension reform is a top Corbett agenda item that's stalled in the Legislature, while Wolf proposes overhauling the income tax.

The poll of 520 voters, conducted between Aug. 18 and Monday, has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.
