CORTLAND, Ohio -

A 20-year old Cortland woman is free on bond after she was arrested for driving drunk with a two-year-old child in the car.

A driver told police that a Dodge Neon nearly crashed into the back of his car several times along State Route Five on Wednesday.

The other driver tells police that the car ran off the roadway before stopping in the parking lot of a business on Route 305. He says he removed the keys from the Neon over concern for the safety of a little girl who was a passenger.

The Bazetta Township Police officer called to the scene says he noticed the odor of alcohol coming from the car. The officer says that the driver, Sarah Latimer, was unable to keep her balance during a field sobriety test.

After undergoing a breathalizer, Latimer was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Endangering Children, Offenses Involving Underage Persons, and being in violation of the Child Restraint law.

She pleaded not guilty before a judge in Central District Court on Friday. The judge said that Latimer may not drive a vehicle pending her next court appearance.

The Children Services Board was also notified of the arrest.
