Youngstown firefighters union reject contract offer

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Youngstown firefighters have rejected a tentative agreement that would have given them a pay increase.

Dave Cook, President of the Youngstown Professional Firefighters tells 21 News that members overwhelmingly turned down the proposal during two days of voting that concluded Wednesday.

The contract would have increased pay 3.5% over three years.  However, Cook says that members were not happy with the health care provisions of the offer.

He says the union is waiting for another negotiating session to be scheduled.

The union has 138 members.
