The three inmates, including T.J. Lane, who escaped from the Lima prison Thursday night are now behind bars in Youngstown.

The trio was transferred to the Ohio State Penitentiary on Coitsville-Hubbard Road late Friday morning, after being captured within nine hours of their escape.

Convicted Chardon High School shooter T.J. Lane will find himself under tighter security and more restrictions now that he's been transferred to the supermax prison to spend his life in prison.

Lane was in protective custody while in the Allen Correctional Institution, which was a minimum to medium level security prison.

Lane, who killed three students and wounded three others back on February 27, 2012, escaped from the Allen Correctional Institution on Thursday night along with two other inmates.  The group used a makeshift ladder to scale a fence and cross the roof of an entry building, and in turn set off an alarm as they tried to make a run for it.

The union representing Ohio guards said prison officials were warned about an escape the day before, and that prison officials did not take additional steps to secure the unit.

According to a spokesperson with the Ohio Department of Corrections, that escape rumor dealt with an unrelated escape plan, by a different inmate housed in the same unit.

Ultimately, prisoner Lane was captured near a church at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, only about a hundred yards away from the prison reportedly with a pitchfork in his hands.

Prison warden Kevin Jones said, "Obviously I'm not happy that it's happened.  No warden in my position would like something like this to happen."

Classes at Chardon High School remained canceled Friday even though Lane was captured.  Counseling was offered to students, staff and members of the community.

The Chardon Board of Education did not wish to make any further comment, only to say that the community is resilient, and stands together to support each other through good and bad.
