A 12-year-old St. Charles Middle School student arrested last month for allegedly compiling a death threat list is back in class.

Superintendent Mary Fialla distributed letters to parents of students saying that the student was being permitted to return to school Thursday.

The boy was suspended from school in early November, and was cited with delinquency by way of inducing panic.

School officials say the decision to allow the student to return to class was based upon the opinion of professionals, the cooperation of the student's family, and consultation with the Office of Catholic Schools.

“The process has played out completely and there is no reason to be concerned for anyone's safety,” said St. Charles Pastor Fr. Phillip Rogers. "From the police standpoint, as well as the standpoint of other professionals, no student is in any danger and every student is back in school."

According to the letter, a plan is in place for monitoring by the school administration as well as others.

The school counselor is being made available to parents to discuss any concerns they may have.
