Wife of convicted Youngstown sex offender pleads guilty
A Youngstown woman will be sentenced in June for failing to protect her children from a registered sex offender.
Trial was scheduled to begin Thursday for Dawn Cavna, who was indicted on six counts of child endangering and one count of tampering with evidence.
Instead, the 28-year-old woman pleaded guilty to one count of child endangering and the tampering charge.
The charges were filed in 2013 after authorities said she allowed her husband Christopher to use their three children, ages one, five and seven, in the production of sexually oriented material.
The sexual activity took place in the families Mahoning Avenue home over a one-and-a-half year period. The images were distributed on a cell phone and through email.
Christopher Cavna pleaded guilty to charges of child exploitation and producing and sending pornographic images of a minor.
The 29-year-old was sentenced to ninety years in prison.
His projected release date is 2091.
