ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Officials say there's a dramatic increase in hospitalizations tied to synthetic marijuana in eastern Pennsylvania.
The Morning Call reports that Lehigh Valley hospitals have seen at least a dozen cases since Saturday.
A toxicologist tells the newspaper the pediatric unit has been filled with adolescent victims who were sleepy, agitated or experiencing seizures.
He says they come in kicking, screaming and delirious.
Law enforcement officials reported about two dozen cases over the past two weeks in Bethlehem and 50 in Allentown since Friday.
Meanwhile, in south-central Pennsylvania, authorities in York County say abuse of the substance sent three people to the hospital Wednesday morning. They arrested two people in York with 48 bags of synthetic marijuana, but don't know how many other packets were sold.
