Student alleges 2 teens raped her at Cleveland high school

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND (AP) - A female student alleges two Cleveland high school basketball players raped her in a room at the school as classes let out one afternoon last month.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports the athletes from East Technical High School were arrested after an 18-year-old woman reported the alleged sexual assault.

She told police she was assaulted in a chair in a corner on March 18. The media group reports investigators collected DNA evidence from the room.

A 16-year-old player is due in juvenile court May 12 to face rape and kidnapping charges. The media group says court records show the other athlete, an 18-year-old man, hasn't been charged.

A school district spokeswoman says it immediately referred the allegations to police and is cooperating with the investigation.
