Niles Police arrest suspected jewel thief

Posted: Updated:
NILES, Ohio -

A Niles man has been arrested after police accused him of stealing jewelry from a home Tuesday.

Jordan Edelman, 22, was charged with one count of burglary and one count of receiving stolen property in connection to the incident.  The burglary charge is a felony.

A Niles resident told police they arrived at their Trumbull Drive home Tuesday night to find that someone had entered through a window and taken jewelry from a bedroom.

Police officers say they then discovered that the jewelry was pawned at a Niles gold buyers store.  The information led to the arrest of the suspect, Edelman, on Wednesday.

Edelman was previously arrested on June 26th for trespassing at a home on Woodglen Avenue.  He was also found guilty of receiving stolen property on June 24th, just two days earlier, in a case stemming from a May incident.  The June 26th case is still pending.

The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Niles Municipal Court on a felony burglary charge.  He is currently being held in Trumbull County jail on $2,500 bond.
