Traffic shifts tonight in Route 224 construction zone in Canfield

Posted: Updated:

Drivers who use U.S. Route 224 in Canfield will encounter more changes in traffic patterns beginning tonight in the construction area over State Route 11.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says that beginning at 8 p.m., eastbound traffic will be expanded to accommodate two lanes of traffic.

Westbound traffic will continue to have only one lane, but all traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed southbound side of the bridge.

Meanwhile, various lane restrictions will continue on Raccoon Road just north of route 224 and on 224 near Raccoon road as work continues to widen the roads.

There are also lane restrictions each day on State Route 11 under Route 224.

The work is part of a $6.5 million project to replace and widen the 224 bridge over Route 11, widen Raccoon Road at US 224 and widen the Route 11 southbound ramp to 224.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by October.
