Police say no bomb found at LaBrae Schools

LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio -

Students were evacuated from the LaBrae Local School Complex on Tuesday while the police and fire departments investigated a bomb threat.

School officials contacted law enforcement authorities after discovering the threat Tuesday morning.

Intermediate School students from grades 3 through 5 intermediate school were taken to Bascom Elementary school.

Middle School and High School students were transported to the Leavittsburg Community Church on West Market Street, while a search of the school buildings was conducted.

Warren Township Police Chief Don Bishop called in officers from Lordstown, Warren City, the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office and Braceville to assist in the building search.

Bishop also contacted Kent State University Police Department, which sent two bomb detection K-9’s.

Youngstown State University Police Department also sent a bomb detection K-9.

Officers along with the bomb detection K-9's swept the entire building. The building was found to be secure with no threats detected, according to Chief Bishop.

According to the Superintendent's office, normal dismissal procedures were followed at the end of the day.

The evening boy's varsity basketball game with visiting Champion has been postponed. No new date was announced.
