Youngstown to launch blight study

Posted: Updated:

Youngstown wants to reduce urban blight, with a goal of neighborhood redevelopment.

The Board of Control has approved a blight analysis for selected areas that have potential for future development.

The areas to be studied are near the Madison Avenue Expressway, the former Wick Six area at Wick and Logan Avenues, and the area between Oakhill and Market Street.

The purpose is to identify the condition of properties in those areas and their potential for re-use. The $25,000 study should be completed in about 90 days.

The results will help guide planning for urban renewal.
