AAA: Youngstown-Warren gas prices lowest in state

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Gas prices are starting to climb in the Valley after steadily dropping since the beginning of January.

Even with the increase in prices, AAA lists the Youngstown-Warren area with the lowest average in the state at $1.63 per gallon.

AAA says that an increase around this time of year is normal since refinery production drops so they can prepare for seasonal maintenance. They also report that some refineries have cut production because of abundant supplies and low prices.

Nationally, the price of gasoline per gallon has increased 3 cents from last week to $1.72, according to AAA. Nationally, drivers are still saving 55 cents per gallon compared to last year.

Gasbuddy.com and AAA report Ohio's average price per gallon at $1.72, a 24-cent increase from just last week. Pennsylvania's average price per gallon has dropped 3 cents, despite the national increase, to $1.90.
