Man's body found shot, burned in woods of Pittsburgh suburb

Posted: Updated:

PENN HILLS, Pa. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after someone salvaging scrap found the body of a man that had been shot then burned in the woods of a Pittsburgh suburb.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office has identified the body as 31-year-old Isaiah Romir Thomas. He was discovered about 7:15 a.m. Thursday in Penn Hills.

The area is known for trash dumping and investigators say it appears that's what had been done to the body. He'd been shot in the arm and the back before being burned, possibly where the remains were found.

Another burned body was found in Penn Hills on May 27.

That severely body was found in the trunk of a burning car in an alley behind a church. Investigators haven't determined that victim's identity.
