It's a way to request a cab, pay for it and track its ETA with your fingertips.
Uber, a ride sharing app, is officially up and running in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.

"You know it's an adventure every day, every day I'm going someplace different," said local Uber driver Twyla Jones.

We checked out the app for ourselves, putting in our email, our phone number and credit card.
Then a few seconds later, all we had to do was pick a spot for the uber driver to pick us up.

Rates for a ride are based on time, distance, and demand.
Starting at 12 cents a minute, 77 cents a mile and close to 3 dollars in other fees.
Rates can also go up when demand is high for situations including concerts and sporting events.

And your driver, whose face and car pop up on your phone, must meet state requirements to drive.

"Anybody that has a serious criminal record would be prohibited from being a driver. you have to be at least 19 years of age. you can't have any dui type offense on your record no offensive texting and driving or any serious driving offenses on your record," said Youngstown Law Director Martin Hume.

Hume says he believes the app will be good for the Youngstown area, potetially cutting down on drunk driving incidents.

And while you need to be in Trumbull or Mahoning county to book a ride, there's no limit on where you can go.

Uber says they have a few dozen drivers already signed up, but are looking for more drivers to get more ride services rolling locally.

She Uber says more than 50% of the partners drive less than 10 hours a week, and like the flexibility.

They are also asking passengers to be patient with the app as it launches, saying there may be some issues with high demand.
