OVI checkpoint location announced in Columbiana County

Posted: Updated:

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released the location of an OVI checkpoint in Columbiana County Friday night.

Troopers say the checkpoint will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on State Route 45 near mile marker 23.

Law enforcement officers will also be holding nearby saturation patrols.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be assisted by the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office, the Perry Township Police Department and the Salem Police Department.

About the checkpoint's aim, Lisbon OSHP Lieutenant Brode says that, "OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways."

Columbiana County's checkpoint, according to state troopers, is funded by federal grants.
