Joe Biden to talk cancer awareness in Cleveland on Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Vice President Joe Biden will be in Cleveland on Thursday to speak about cancer awareness.

Biden is set to visit the Langston Hughes Community Health and Education Center on E 79th street as part of a summit held by the Cancer Moonshot initiative.

The VP will give remarks regarding the role community awareness plays in cancer prevention and treatment.

While in Cleveland, Biden will also highlight the cancer-fighting work accomplished by the Case Comprehensive Care Center, a partnership between the Cleveland Clinic, University Health, and Western Reserve University.

Biden's speech will begin at 3:00pm, and is part of a day of events being held across the U.S. in support of the Cancer Moonshot.

The White House says more than 6,000 people will participate Thursday in 270 countrywide summits.

The Cancer Moonshot was established following President Obama's State of the Union address earlier this year.  It is led by Biden and aims, according to its website, to improve cancer therapy, prevention, and detection by accelerating research.
