Girard police cruiser flips over after brakes fail

GIRARD, Ohio -

An overnight cruiser crash is under investigation by the Girard Police Department.

Sergeant John Freeman is said to be doing fine and suffered no injuries from the crash.

His cruiser flipped over near the area of South State Street and Morris Avenue just before 1 AM Thursday morning.

According to Girard's Chief of Police Jeffrey Palmer, Sergeant Freeman was responding to assist another officer when he hit a guidewire and couldn't maintain control.  His vehicle had just been maintenanced, and there is also a possibililty the brakes may have failed.
