Local police departments awarded for adopting state standards

The Ohio Collaborative has awarded two local police departments for their efforts in adopting the state's new standards.

The Austintown Police Department and the Liberty Township Police Department will receive an Ohio AWARDS certification for their use of force, including deadly force, and agency recruitment and hiring.

The two agencies, have adopted and implemented state standards in order to strengthen community and police relations.

Nearly 1,000 law enforcement agencies are working to comply with Ohio's new standards. 

The first list of all Ohio compliant agencies will be published in March of 2017.
