YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Youngstown Chapter of the NAACP sat down with the district's new CEO Krish Mohip to outline concerns they have in the district and the hopes going forward.

Parents, teachers and Board of Education members were able to ask Mohip more about his plans to combat specific problems they've seen in the district. They say it boils down to finding student equity, which Mohip says is a task they will take head on.

"What I mean by equity is really getting to an understanding of what every child needs, every classroom, what teachers needs, every classroom. Let's provide those resources because if we're not providing kids what they need, how can we expect them to be successful? And it's different for every child. There's no cookie cutter approach for a district, for a school, there's nothing that says this is going to work for every student. So let's find out what gaps there are, find out what a child needs, and provide them with services," said Mohip.

Mohip said he believes some of the most important steps to helping the students of Youngstown progress are making sure qualified teachers are working at the top of there game and involving the community and local non-profits.
