The Ohio Department of Transportation says it has now closed the  last of six ramps it planned to shut down along Interstate 80 from Austintown to Girard.

The ramps are closed as part of a more than year-long project to widen the Interstate.

Instead of closing all six I-80 ramps between State Route 46 and Belmont Avenue on Monday as originally announced, the Ohio Department of Transportation initiated the closures on a graduated timeline.

The following ramps are closed:

  • Ramp from State Route 46 to I-80 eastbound closed through late August.
  • Location: This ramp is just north of the Starbucks on Route 46.
  • Detour: State Route 46 to Mahoning Ave., Austintown to SR 11 northbound.

  • Ramp from US 422 to I-80 westbound closed through September 2017. (#3 on map)
  • Location: Next to the Shell gas station and car wash in Girard
  • Detour: US 422 to State Route 711 southbound to I-680 northbound to I-80 westbound.

  • Ramp from I-80 eastbound to US 422 closed through July 2017. (#2 on map)

  • Ramp from State Route 11 southbound to I-80 eastbound closed through September 2017. (#6 on map)
  • Location: Sign on ramp reads 80 East - New York. (Popular route to Belmont Ave., Liberty)
  • Detour: State Route 711 southbound to Gypsy Lane eastbound to State Route 193/Belmont Ave.

  • Ramp from I-80 eastbound to State Route 11 northbound closed through September 2017. (#5 on map)
  • Location: Sign on ramp reads 11 North - Warren Ashtabula. (Popular route to Liberty, Howland, Niles)
  • Detour: I-680 southbound to State Route 711 northbound to State Route 11 northbound.

  • Ramp from State Route 711 northbound to I-80 eastbound closed through September 2017. (#4 on map)
  • Location: Sign on ramp reads 80 East - New York. (A popular route to Liberty Twp.)
  • Detour: Gypsy Lane eastbound to State Route 193/Belmont Ave. to I-80 eastbound.

In addition, traffic on I-80 eastbound between Salt Springs Rd. and U.S. 422 is shifted over to the westbound lanes by way of a crossover. Two lanes of traffic is maintained in each direction, with all traffic placed on the I-80 westbound lanes. (#1 on map)

The work is part of a $91.2 million project to widen I-80 between SR 46 and SR 193 in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.

The project will add one lane of traffic in each direction on I-80.
