4 year-old Niles boy found wandering at 4 a.m.

Posted: Updated:
NILES, Ohio -

A Niles man found himself serving a late night meal to a 4 year old boy who found his way to his front door.

The man's son discovered the young boy outside their Circle Street home just after 4 a.m. on Thursday and alerted his father.

In an attempt to identify the child, police asked the boy his parents' names and were answered with “Mommy and Daddy,” according to reports.

Searching records with the child's name, officers were able to locate an address on North Cedar Street, a half mile away from where he was located.

When police arrived at the boy's home, they found the front door wide open, reports say.

After announcing themselves a few times, the child's mother walked downstairs and appeared to be confused, police said.

She told officers her son was in his room sleeping and her husband had left in the middle of the night to go to the store.

Police are investigating the case and Children's Services has been notified.

No charges have been filed.

This is not the first time the child has been found wandering around his neighborhood.

Police records indicate the boy was found at least three other times during the summer of 2015.
