Police: Newton Falls woman drove kids in car with heroin

WARREN, Ohio -

A Newton Falls woman was arrested after Warren police say she drove two children in her car while in possession of heroin.

33-year-old Amanda Morar faces drug possession and child endangering charges resulting from the Wednesday incident.

Warren detectives say they were on patrol that afternoon when they saw a vehicle pull into and out of a suspected west-side drug house.

The car was pulled over on Iowa Street after police say the driver failed to properly signal a turn.

Officers approached the car, driven by Morar, and saw two children inside, one in the front seat and the other in the back.

Police say they then observed a powdery substance on Morar's leg.

Morar, according to police, quickly wiped the substance away, but officers suspected it to be heroin.

Officers proceeded to search the vehicle and say they found another packet of heroin inside.

The search also revealed a container of marijuana and another grey, powder-like substance inside of an unmarked pill bottle.

Morar was subsequently arrested and taken to Trumbull County Jail, where she was released on bond later that day.

After Morar was handcuffed, workers from Children's Services took emergency custody of the children.

Morar, meanwhile, pleaded not-guilty to both her drug possession and child endangering charges on Thursday.

She is due back in Warren Municipal Court on August 11th.
