Austintown Fitch grad carries Olympic torch

The Summer Olympics has a Valley connection.

Tony Sangialosi of Austintown carried the Olympic torch on Friday in Brazil, ahead of next month's summer games in Rio.

The Fitch High School graduate is a manager at the Firestone in Kent, Ohio.

Sangialosi is one of three Bridgestone employees chosen to carry the torch, through teammate voting.

His wife Monique snapped the pictures for 21 News.

Bridgestone is a worldwide Olympic partner.

The torch relay began in April with the traditional flame-lighting ceremony in Olympia, Greece.

Since then, the flame has been through Switzerland, arriving in Brasilia in May for the start of Brazilian section of the relay.

Over a 95 day span, the relay route passes through 300 cities and towns in five regions of the country.

The relay culminates with on August 5 with the lighting of the cauldron during the Opening Ceremony of the Games at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio.
