Western PA Balloon Quest grounded due to windy conditions

Posted: Updated:
UNION TWP., Lawrence Co., Pa. -

The weather didn't cooperative Friday for the Western PA Balloon Quest.

Windy conditions meant pilots at the annual event in Union Township couldn't launch. Crews monitored the conditions diligently before making the tough decision.

"We want to put on a show but we want to do it in a safe way and that over trumps anything else," said Balloon Meister Louis Merryman.

The Balloon Quest has another flight scheduled for 6:30 Saturday morning, as well as 6:30 Saturday night. Those flights will be weather permitting.

A full schedule and details can be found, here.
