Sandy Lake Township approved for sewer line extension

Posted: Updated:

Sandy Lake is expanding its sewer system from the borough into the township with the help of a financing package approved by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVest).

The new system affects those who live and work along Route 62, including 21 homes, one apartment building, a church, and several business, according to Pennsylvania State Senator, Michele Brooks and State Representative Tedd Nesbit.

“Expanding Sandy Lake Borough's collection system into the township is an important factor in both economic development and health and safety,” said Nesbit. “With proper infrastructure in place, the residents along Route 62 will have access to reliable sewer lines.”

The approved financial package includes a grant of $310,639 and a one percent loan of $307,551 to be used to construct 9,120 linear feet of sewer force main and 29 grinder pumps to connect to the Sandy Lake Borough collection system.

Now that the financial package is approved, Nesbit said plans to move forward with the project can begin.
