Man gets prison for killing 2 housekeepers at Ohio facility

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND (AP) - A chef who admitted to fatally shooting two housekeepers at an Ohio assisted living facility could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

A Cleveland judge sentenced 56-year-old Frank Staton to 66 years to life in prison on Tuesday after the Chardon man pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and other charges.

Staton told the judge that he doesn't have an explanation for why he shot Terri Treadway and Catherine Sutter at Hamlet Village in Chagrin Falls before shooting himself. Staton was hospitalized for more than a week after the March 24 shootings.

The Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County prosecutor says Treadway was Staton's girlfriend at the time.

The women's relatives spoke in favor of a harsh sentence.
