NEW CASTLE, Pa. -

It didn't take officers from the New Castle Police Department very long to track down and arrest a suspect wanted for robbing a local bank.

Police say the First Commonwealth Bank on East Washington Street was robbed shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Bank employees gave investigators a description of the man who fled from the bank with cash.

Police identified the suspect at 29-year-old Joshua Mele of New Castle.

Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, police spotted Mele at a Dollar Store in Union Township.

Mele was taken to the New Castle Police Department for interrogation, where detectives say he admitted committing the robbery.

Police say that they recovered a large portion of the stolen money from behind a couch at Mele's home.

Mele is charged with robbery, theft and receiving stolen property.
