Police investigate Mahoning County GOP candidate

STRUTHERS, Ohio -

The Republican candidate for Mahoning County Clerk of Courts is named in a police report, for alleged child endangering while administering corporal punishment.

The complaint against David Shaffer of Struthers alleges that he hit his nine year old son with a belt and wooden spoon causing minor injury.

Struthers police say the information from their investigation is currently under reveiw by the assistant prosecutor for juvenile court. No formal charges have been filed.

Attempts to contact Shaffer at his home and by phone were not successful.

Shaffer is challenging incumbent Clerk of Courts Anthony Vivo.

    A Warren woman who was accused of ramming her car into her own sister has now been arrested in a prostitution sting conducted by Austintown Police. Brianna Reno, 23,  was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Tuesday on charges of soliciting prostitution, possession of criminal tools and a probation violation.
