Michigan manufacturer moving to Mineral Ridge

A manufacturer is moving a new plant and jobs to Mineral Ridge, thanks to $412,500 loan from the state of Ohio.

State Rep. Sean O’Brien announced on Monday that Jackson International Incorporated will use the loan to purchase a 79,102 square foot manufacturing facility, machinery and equipment.

Jackson International will move current operations from Michigan to the Mahoning Valley over the next two years, creating ten new jobs that are expected to pay $15 per hour, plus benefits, according to O'Brien.

Formed in 1993, Jackson International, Inc. manufactures a variety of quality uncoupling levers and other devices for the railcar and the railroad industry.

O'Brien says the company is moving to Ohio to be better positioned to serve its expanding client base, which spans from Chicago to New York and the eastern seaboard.

The loan is being allocated as part of a regional loan program, which provides low interest loans for land and building acquisition, construction, expansion or renovation, and equipment purchases for eligible businesses.

Eligible projects include those related to industry, commerce, and distribution or research activities.
