Girard bowler sets record for most strikes in a hour

STRUTHERS, Ohio -

Adam Barta of Girard made history Saturday night.  The amateur bowler surpassed the Guinness World Record for most strikes in an hour.

"There is no doubt that this crowd got me over that number, because I didn't take a lot of breaks. I mean, I don't even know how many shots I threw, but just unbelievable.  It is awesome," Barta said.

Barta threw 191 strikes, breaking the previous record by 15.  He threw a total of 308 times.

Adam even bowled a perfect game in under two minutes.

While he threw his 16 pound ball over and over again to make history, his ultimate goal was to make life a little easier for the Lejune family of Texas.  Their daughter Paige passed away back in October after fighting leukemia for a third time.

"The first five minutes I met her, it was the most infectious person I've ever met in my life.  It was like this girl is battling leukemia for the third time and it is like you didn't even know she was sick," said Barta.  "You talk about a true life super hero, that girl was a super hero and I told my wife the second I left the hospital, we need to do something for this family."

Paige passed away in October.  Since then, the Barta's have stayed in touch with the Lejunes, flying them to Ohio for the event.

"Paige already has a great legacy going and this gets to be another piece of it," said Amy Lejune.  "We are so blessed to be a part of it."

Officials still haven't indicated when the bo...
