Youngstown woman faces charges after allegedly attacking family, threatening officer

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

A Youngstown woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after police say she attacked her family during an argument over a ride.

Police were called to a house in the 1400 block of Salt Springs Road where they say Christine Smith became violent shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday after her mother refused to give her a ride to Hillman Street where she planned to work as a prostitute.

Smith's mother told police Smith yelled "give me a ride, I hate you, I hope your legs get cut off," then lunged at her before another family member intervened.

Smith is accused of hitting that person repeatedly and grabbing him by the throat, then punching her disabled  father in the head, causing him to bleed.

When police arrived, Smith was handcuffed and put into the back of a cruiser, where she allegedly began hitting her head off of the divider between the front and back seat and telling the arresting officer "I know your name and I'm putting a price on your head."

Smith was arraigned Monday afternoon on two felony counts of domestic violence.

She's due back in court later this month.
