Police: New Castle man kills self after police standoff

Posted: Updated:
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -

Police say a New Castle man threatened to kill police officers and his girlfriend before turning a gun on himself.

According to police, Troy Glenn Addy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after negotiations with members of the police department's special response team failed to convince Addy surrender and leave a home at 1711 South Jefferson Street where he had barricaded himself.

The incident began just before 8:30 a.m. after police say Addy forced his way into his ex-girlfriend's home on Marshall Avenue, according to police.

Investigators say Addy placed a gun at the head of the woman's head and threatened to kill her and him.

Police located Addy in the South Jefferson Street home after the initial call.
