Mine subsidence shuts down road along Mahoning - Lawrence County line

PennDOT is investigating damage to a road along the Mahoning - Lawrence County line.

Steve Cowan, PennDOT spokesman, tells 21 News that the damaged portion of Stateline Road is about 1500 feet north of Route 108.

He says the damage is similar to the damage caused by mine subsidence along Route 108 last year.

  Traffic is detoured.  Signs will be posted to guide motorists.

From the North

·        From State Line Road, turn onto Columbiana Road (Route 3006)

·        Turn right onto Route 108

·        Follow Route 108 back to State Line Road

·        End detour

From the South

·        Same detour in opposite direction

PennDOT is talking to the East Fairfield Coal company about making repairs.

There is no word yet on when the stretch of road will open again.
