Warren man accused of pulling gun on workers disturbing his sleep

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio -

A Warren man who tells police he was just trying to get some sleep was hauled off to jail after allegedly pulling a gun on some construction workers.

Eighteen-year-old Nikita Pantelis was arrested by police Wednesday morning and booked into jail on two counts of aggravated menacing.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of Cranberry Lane, where a crew was removing aluminum siding from an apartment at around 10 a.m.

The workers tell police that Pantelis opened his apartment window and shouted at them to shut up.

He closed the window but opened it again, and this time the workers say Pantelis was holding a gun which he cocked and waved it back in forth in front of the two men before slamming the window again.

The workers called their boss who reported the incident to police.

Officers spoke to Pantelis, who admitted holding the gun, but denied pointing it at the workers.

He said the workers were making a lot of noise while he was trying to sleep.

Police say they found a 9 mm gun under a bed. There was no round in the chamber, but the magazine held three bullets.

Pantelis pleaded not guilty to the charges. He's scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in January.
