Companies offer YSU game day freebies

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Youngstown State University football team landed in Texas for this weekend's FCS playoffs, and busloads of proud Penguins left this morning to cheer on the team in Frisco.

And for those staying in the Valley for the big game, local companies are making sure you get some freebies while you cheer on the Penguins from home.

The Covelli Centre, Chick-Fil-A and OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science and Technology are all participating.

OH WOW! is offering free admission Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone donning YSU swag.

Penguin fans can pack the Covelli Centre Saturday morning before kickoff for a watch party. Doors open at 10 a.m. and kickoff is at noon. Tickets are free, but organizers are asking that you pick them up in advance at the Covelli Centre Box Office. More than 3,000 tickets have already been picked up, but there are plenty more to go around.

If the YSU Penguins win, not only will they be bringing back a national championship, but it could score you some free chicken nuggets.

Chick-Fil-As located at the Howland Commons, Southern Park and Tiffany Square Plaza are all giving fans the chance to win a free tray of chicken nuggets.

Customers who purchase any size nugget tray before noon on game day will have the chance to get another tray for free, but only if the Penguins bring home the championship.

If the YSU wins, guests can return to the same restaurant between Jan. 9 and Jan. 31 with their receipt to receive the same nugget tray for free.
