Proposals to play all football OHSAA playoff games and extend baseball - softball seasons

Posted: Updated:

The Ohio High School Board of Directors are going to vote next month on playing all football playoff games on Friday and extending the baseball and softball seasons two weeks.

"It's getting harder and harder to compete with college football," said OHSAA Commissioner Dr. Dan Ross on the proposal to move the games, which has the blessing of the state football coaches association.

"The pitch count rule and the ability to play in better weather is the reason for the baseball and softball seasons being extended," Ross said and also is endorsed by the baseball coaches association.

Both proposals will be voted on at the board of directors next meeting in June.

If passed, the football recommendation begins this fall and the baseball and softball extension in 2019.
