WARREN, Ohio -

A suspect wanted in connection with a violent home invasion in Pennsylvania is in the Trumbull County Jail after being captured in Warren.

Ernest Chambers 37, of Braddock, Pa, was arrested Friday on a warrant issued by police in Penn Township, a community about twenty miles east of Pittsburgh.

Chambers is charged with robbery, assault, strangulation and burglary in connection with a May 1 incident where he and another suspect allegedly broke into a home and assaulted a woman and her adult son.

Police say Chambers and Vincent Scala of Monroeville fled after taking several items from the home.

The help of a state police helicopter was used in the unsuccessful search for the suspects and several roads in the community were shut down.

Penn Township Police Chief John Otto says his department plans to extradite Chambers to face charges in Westmorland County.

Scala, the alleged accomplice, remains at large.
