Boardman man reports beating and robbery at his home

Posted: Updated:

A 68-year-old resident of a usually quiet Boardman neighborhood tells police he was beaten and robbed in his home.

The man told officers that he was sleeping in his home on the 1300 block of Glenwood Avenue Monday afternoon when someone broke into his house and attacked him.

He said the intruder, who was wearing a mask, punched him in the head and ribs.

According to the police report, dishes were found broken on the kitchen floor and a desk had been ransacked.

He told police that his cash advance visa card was missing from his wallet, and two heart medications that had been on the desk were missing.

The victim believes that the intruder walked into his home through an unlocked door.

Police say the man was taken to Mercer Health Center in Boardman for treatment and evaluation.

Although he said the suspect was wearing a mask, the resident gave police a description of the assailant's clothing.
