Boil alert issued for Youngstown's east side

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Residents of Youngstown's east side should boil their water as per the Youngstown Water Department.

Low water pressure was reported on the east side of Youngstown on Monday due to a power outage.

The Environmental Protection Agency requires that all cities boil their water when drinking water lines become depressurized.

Residents within the boundary east of Albert Street, north of Early Road and west of Liberty Road are at risk.

Those in the affected area should boil any water they plan to use for drinking and cooking.

A one minute rolling boil should be adequate, according to the Youngstown Water Department.

The Youngstown Water Department will notify residents when the water has been tested and deemed safe.

Until that notification has arrived, water should be boiled.

Questions can be directed to the Water Department Engineering Office at (330) 742-8765.
