BETHEL PARK, Pa. (AP) - Allegheny County police believe a woman was speeding before she crashed into a telephone pole in the Pittsburgh suburbs, killing herself and two passengers and injuring a third.

Police have yet to release names of the young women involved in the crash shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday on Library Road in Bethel Park.

Police say the 21-year-old driver and a 23-year-old passenger died at the scene. Another 23-year-old passenger had to be extricated from the wreckage and died at a hospital.

A third passenger, also 21, was thrown from the vehicle and survived, but was listed in critical condition at an unspecified hospital.

The crash remained under investigation. Police say alcohol may also have been a factor.
