Muscle Connection H.S. Football Preview: South Ranger Raiders

Posted: Updated:

The South Range football program is seeing a lot of changes this season.

First, they'll play in a new stadium and secondly, they're playing an independent schedule for the first time in a long time.

The Raiders are ready for a "new beginning."

Veteran coach Dan Yeagley has a solid nucleus to build around. "Nice group returning on both sides of the ball. Peyton Remish, our linebacker/running back, Neal Buzzacco is going to be our quarterback and defensive back, Mathias Combs will be a receiver and a defensive back. You got a nice group of guys up front with Max Brooke and Brian Robinson.  It's just Levi Taylor up front. Also, a lot of core kids back."

The Raiders have 60 players including seven returners on offense and four on defense.

They have seven home games in their new facility with a lot of new opponents, including Sharon and Sharpsville.

"Looking forward to it. We're looking forward to the challenges, we're looking forward to the new teams, some teams traveling. We do have seven home games which makes it nice. " said Yeagley

The Raiders haven't had a losing season since 2009 and with a demanding schedule, they'll need to hit the ground running.

Yeagley said, "We have to be consistently good.  We have to play with a 100 percent of intensity. Every single play, every single snap, you can't take a play off."

South Range was 9-1 last season and looking to make it back to back playoff appearances.
