Youngstown man goes into rage after asked to leave Rescue Mission

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

After a man was asked to leave the Youngstown Rescue Mission on Wednesday night, he started throwing and damaging property.

According to reports, the man threw trash cans and other objects around then picked up two computer monitors and threw them on the ground, causing them to shatter.

Reports stated that he was removed from the building but got back in, grabbed a vacuum cleaner and swung it into the front door causing it to shatter.

"We have expectations here for those staying in the building. There are about 20 or 25 children staying here as well, so we have to be consciously aware and keep a safe environment," said John Muckridge, Director of Education at the Rescue Mission.

Muckridge said their relationship with this man has been going on since 2015.

"We log interactions and conversations here and we have been holding him accountable and giving him plenty of opportunities in the past. We got to the point where we can't help people that don't want help," Muckridge said. "He chose to not be with us anymore. He made the choice to not meet the expectations."

Police say the man fled before they arrived on scene.
