Muscle Connection H.S. Football Preview: Salem Quakers

Posted: Updated:

"It's special to be part of Salem football," said veteran Coach Ron Johnson.

With an increase of nearly 10 players from a year ago, Johnson couldn't be happier. "Guys want to be part of it. It's a great family, great family atmosphere and we rely on one another."

The Quakers are relying on quarterback Mitch Davidson to carry the load offensively. "He's set to a have a great year," Johnson said.

The offense has three receivers returning and four starters on the offensive line. "Our receiving corps is pretty deep with Chase Ackerman, Zach Bizon, and Turner Johnson."

The specialty on defense is their speed. Johnson admits they could have "eight defensive backs" on the field at the same time. "We don't have a lot of linemen, but we have a lot of fast guys," he said.

Jake Mims is expected to be the leader on defense. The outside linebacker is teaming up with Robbie Sargender and they'll carry the load for the Quakers on that side of the ball.
