New workout class encourages parents to bring their children

CANFIELD, Ohio -

Drop the barbells and pick up the babies.

"I find a lot, just talking to other moms, that they feel super guilty about taking the time for themselves to workout,"  said personal trainer Alison Zabel.

That's why Zabel of Two Trainers developed a Baby Bod class, which provides parents the opportunity to work out with their children.

The Baby Bod classes are divided into two sessions, one targeting toddlers and another incorporating babies.

"We are doing a lot of body and baby weight exercises.  So, you will be using the baby.  Also, when we get into the toddler, they could be along side you learning the exercises because we want to teach the importance to our children about living a healthy lifestyle," said Zabel.

In addition to the extra bonding, the Baby Bod classes cater to parents of all fitness levels.  There are also modifications depending on the child's age.

"I am hoping to be able to figure out a new routine, to be able to fit that me time in, but still include my son in my me time," said new mom Laura Cotterman of Boardman.

The Baby Bod classes start Thursday, August 17th at Valley Little Melodies in Canfield.  Click here to learn more about registering for classes.
