Drake Manufacturing celebrates start of a new era

CHAMPION TWP., Ohio -

A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrates new ownership and marks the beginning of the next chapter for a Trumbull County manufacturer.

Precision production system maker Drake Manufacturing was recently sold to CW North America, Inc.

The company currently employs 53 people but said they have plans to expand the Champion facility.

"We are looking to expand sales, expand the production, we want to look at additional technology," David Tang said, vice president of sales and finance.

At its peak, the company once employed about 110 workers.

A federal judge approved the sale of the manufacturer following a three-month long receivership.

The company's new owners say they want to position Drake Manufacturing to become a market leader in the machine tools industry.
