Union leaders say a disappointing turn of events will leave more than two dozen employees at Warren's Delphi Packard Electrical plant unemployed.

International Union of Electrical Workers-Communications Workers of America Local 717 Presiden Ed Salus, says budgeting concerns are to blame.

Salus told 21 News that 26 employees are being permanently laid off.

According to Salus, Delphi wanted to lay off anywhere from 40-70 workers but was talked down to 26.

The concern is over a $300,000 loss deficit every month.

Salus told 21 News that the layoffs are disappointing because it makes it seems that the only way the company tries to make up money is by "going after our people."

President Salus says Delphi has not yet officially announced the layoffs to workers, however, they are expected to take effect next Monday, September 18th.

Salus says those who were hired the most recently and have the least seniority will be the first ones laid off.

The decrease will leave around 650 employees still working at Plant 11 in Warren.
