U.S. Marshals said they've arrested the robbery suspect they were searching for that prompted a lockdown at St. Elizabeth Hospital in  Youngstown.

Marshals said they were searching for Brian Ferrer after a robbery in Jackson Township, just outside of Canton. Ferrer was arrested in Canton shortly before 5 pm Thursday.

Around 1:30 pm Thursday, Mercy Health Police Officers and the U.S. Marshals were conducting searches in the hospital. After conducting a room-by-room search, the suspect was not found to be in the hospital.

U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliot tells 21 News his office contacted the hospital inquiring whether a robbery suspect might be there.

Elliot said the hospital reacted to that call by immediately going on lockdown.

During the lockdown, no one was permitted to enter the building, although some people were permitted to leave the emergency department.
